Professional Solo Section

The professional group competition is suitable for music students and musicians who are undergoing professional training.


The competition repertoire formulated by the jury has a certain degree of difficulty.

Contestants are required to prepare all entries and submit a one-time portfolio before the deadline.    








The Professional Solo group is divided into 3 groups by age: 





Professional solo Group A : Under 12 years old



 Professional solo Group B: 13 - 18 years old



 Professional solo Group C : 19 - 35 years old









The 2022 Milan International Violin Competition is open to talented violinists and future performers.


022 The Milan International Violin Competition in Italy invites international performers and top experts from authoritative music academies in various countries as the jury. In 2022, the competition will be judged online. The competition is divided into professional group and amateur group; contestants in the professional group need to win awards through two rounds of evaluation. The 2022 Milan International Violin Competition is open to all violin players, regardless of gender or nationality.

Amateur Section

The amateur group competition is suitable for music lovers of all ages who have hobbies as their development goals.   There is no limit to the time and style of the participating music; the contestants need to play their own style and standard.  The judges will judge and award awards based on the completion of the entries of the contestants.    Contestants can submit 1 or more entries, and submit them at one time before the registration deadline.      



Violin Solo 


Group A: 6-8 years old

Amateur Group F: 21-24 years old

Choose an etude of own choice


Kreutzer, Rode, Dont (Op.35) 




Second  Round : 

 A Piece for solo violin or violin and piano freely chosen by the competitor 







Professional Group B 

 (13 - 18 years old)



First  Round : 

1. Choose an capriccio of the following choosing 


Wieniawski or Paganini 



2. Bach sonata and partita for violin solo

one of the following choosing


1st partita BWV 1002 : Corrente; Sarabande

2nd partita BWV 1004: Allemande; Sarabande

3rd partita BWV 1006: Prelude ; Loure




Second  Round : 

A Piece for solo violin or violin and piano freely chosen by the competitor







Professional Group C 

 (19 - 35 years old)


First  Round : 

- Bach sonata and partita for violin solo


1st and 2nd movement from one of the Bach sonatas for violin solo:

G Minor BWV 1001 : Adagio; Fugue

A Minor BWV 1003 : Grave; Fugue

C Major BWV 1005 : Adagio; Fugue



Second  Round : 


1. A violin solo piece or violin with piano piece


2. The first movement of a Violin Concerto



All Candidate in the professional group must be played from memory;


Except for violin solo works, other works must be performed with the piano part.






Program for Amateur Section




Violin Solo 


Competitors in each group are required to submit 1-2 performance videos


There is no time limit for the style of the repertoire (Etudes, songs can be used)


Group A: Ages 6-8 (video track no more than 10 minutes)


Group B: Ages 9-11 (video track no more than 15 minutes)


Group C: Age 12-14 (video track no more than 15 minutes)


Group D: Age 15-17 (video track no more than 20 minutes)


Group E: Age 18-20 (video track no more than 20 minutes)


Group F: Age 21-24 (video track no more than 25 minutes)


Group G: Age 25+ (video track no more than 30 minutes)




Violin Ensemble 


Competitors in each group are required to submit 1 performance videos


There is no time limit for the style of the repertoire (Etudes, songs can be used)



Average age group under 12 years old: (video track maximum 10 minutes)


Average age group 13-17 years old: (video track max. 15 minutes)


Average age group 18-24 years old: (video track max. 20 minutes)











Video recording requirements for Competition 

1. Each Repertory needs to be recorded as a separate video


2. Participants are requested to record a video in formal or performance clothes


3. The video needs no modification, any sound modification are not allowed


4. In addition to the performance, the video should not be disturbed by other sounds


5. The video quality must be higher than 720P; the video recording angle must be able to clearly see the Candidate's hands and face


6. The contestant's video must be uploaded to Youtube by themselves, and the video viewing link should be submitted.


7. The participating videos need to set the viewing password, and the password is uniformly set as: mivc2022 (all lowercase)


8. The title of the participating video should indicate: name + group + repertory  information


9. Candidate in the professional group should record the competition repertoire according to the repertoire requirements, and submit the video viewing links of the two rounds of entries at a time, until deadline. 


10. The amateur group solo and ensemble/unison contestants are required to submit 1-2 performance videos, and the repertoire is not limited (etudes and music are acceptable)


11. Chinese works need to submit scanned copies of musical scores


12. The copyright of all audio and video products belongs to the organizing committee for the audio and video recordings, television broadcasts, network communication, concerts of award-winning contestants and other related activities. Contestants will be deemed to agree to participate.


13. Entries must be submitted no later than September 30, 2022
